Family spends months wondering when they’ll be ready for another cat, then two rescue kittens answer the question

Sometimes the CDS waits until your heart is ready, then skips the whole "looking for a cat" stage and sends two at once.

After their beloved cat passed over the rainbow bridge last fall, one family spent months grieving and wasn't ready to bring another feline home. Only recently had they started talking about opening their hearts again and maybe beginning the search sometime soon. Turns out, there would be no searching necessary. The CDS had already handled the assignment.

They found two young cats abandoned together in a park with a bag of food beside them. It's heartbreaking to imagine how they ended up there, especially because their behavior suggested they had been loved and cared for before. Rather than assume the worst about whoever left them, their new family chose kindness and figured someone may have fallen on difficult times.

The pair were understandably nervous about their unfamiliar surroundings at first, but it didn't take long for their affectionate personalities to come out. Both are major cuddle bugs, and they've also got each other while they adjust.

One kitten is bolder while the other approaches things more cautiously. Whenever the cautious one gets spooked and retreats somewhere safe, his braver buddy follows him over for a cuddle. Excuse us while our hearts completely melt. Getting through a huge life change is much easier when your best feline friend is right there beside you.

The vet estimates they're around six to ten months old, likely toward the younger end. Neither had a chip, they've gotten their shots, and appointments are lined up to get them fixed.

They've also officially become Mander and Melee, names inspired by Charmander and Charmeleon from Pokémon.

This family thought they were finally ready to start looking for another cat. The CDS heard them and said, "How about two?"

  • Who’s more blessed here, the cats or the hoomans? We’re calling it a tie. Mander and Melee got to stay together, found a safe home, and now have hoomans ready to give them all the cuddles and care they deserve. Their new family got two affectionate little felines to fill the house with love after such a difficult loss. Everyone found exactly what they needed at just the right time. Sometimes the CDS really does manage to make everyone a winner.

    DarkHorseAsh111 That definitely sounds like someone who just wasn't able to take care of them anymore :( I'm glad they got found safe. Maybe you could post on your local town's facebook page or something about them so hopefully their person knows they're safe now.

  • Their personalities complement each other so perfectly. One is brave enough to investigate everything first, while the other prefers to hang back until things feel a little safer. Even sweeter, the bold one seems to know exactly when his more cautious buddy needs some extra comfort and heads over for a cuddle. They balance each other out in the cutest way possible. One brings the confidence, the other brings the caution, and together they make one pretty purrfect little feline team.

  • The CDS really found the perfect family for these little guys. Mander and Melee needed a safe place where they could stay together, and they landed with hoomans who were finally ready to welcome cats back into their lives. After everything this bonded pair had already been through, they get to keep their favorite feline by their side while settling into a loving home. The timing couldn’t have worked out much better. The CDS had two kittens to place, and this family had plenty of love for both.
